RALPH ORIS GUSTAFSON
Ralph Oris GUSTAFSON B. 29 July 1905 (Fenner Farm) Millersburg Twp., IL Raised primarily on a farm directly north of Aledo, attended Aledo grade school and high school, was graduated in the class of 1923, worked for the Times Record. Married Darlene POLAND from Joy, IL. They lived in Kewanee, Henry, IL where he worked as a linotype operator and machinist until Oct. 1943. Moved with family to Ottawa, LaSalle Cty., IL. In 1963, he moved to the Union Printer's Home in Colorado Springs, El Paso, Colorado where he died 11 March 1971 and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery.
"Aledo cyclist loses foot in Auto Accident. Ralph Gustafson Suffers Painful Mishap When Motorcylce Crashes Into Car.

Aldeo, Ill. Sep. 2.  -Ralph Gustafson, a printer, of Aledo, is in Mercey hospital, Davenport, with his left foot amputated, as a result of an accident on the hard road near Gingles corner about 10 o'clock last night. [Note: His heel was saved.]
Gustafson was returning to Aledo on his motorcycle and was injured when he collided with an automobile driven by C. G. Von Maur of Davenport, which was going north. Mr. Von Maur said he started to pass another car ahead, but before he could get by he saw the mortocycle, and started to turn back. The motorcycle struck the left rear fender of the auto, throwing Gustafson to the pavement.
Gustafson was taken to Aledo and given first aid treatment at the office of Dr. G. H. Moore. Later he was removed to Mercy hospital and Dr. P.A. Bendixen performed the operation on the injured limb."

"In searching our archives, we have found information on Brother Ralph Oris Gustafson, as follows. Brother Gustafson was born July 29, 1905 at Millersburg, Illinois with a listed occupation of Printer. He was elected March 22, 1927 to Aledo Lodge No. 252, Aledo, Illinois and rasied to sublime degree of Master Mason on June 14, 1927. On March 2, 1934, he affiliated by dimit with Kewanee Lodge No. 159 and remained a Master Mason in Good Standing until his death March 13, 1971. (sic: March 11, 1971).
